Hidden Possessions IV

Besides memories, all we have left after someone dies is their possessions; things they held on to over the years. My father didn’t own much and a lot of what he did own has been passed onto my siblings that wanted them. There are only a few things left in my house that belonged to him, and these are it. It took some time to find them; many of them were hidden and were kept out of sight for the past seven years.

These objects symbolize what I saw of my father, what kind of person he was on the surface, for there was nothing deeper than simple possessions when it came to my father. He was a one-dimensional, selfish man, who wanted others to see him as a saint. But I knew the truth... because I saw what he wanted to hide all his life. Now that he’s dead and buried, everyone can know. And I want them to. Let’s turn the spotlights on and see what’s really there.
